Advanced Application Settings

Most Power Studio configuration should be changed from Options and Settings or the Configuration Tool. Some advanced settings live in the application configuration files and should normally be changed only together with Power Studio support or an experienced station administrator.

Always back up the configuration file before editing it. Restart Power Studio after changing application-level settings.

Local Asset Cache

Advanced local cache settings can define where cached files are stored, how many downloads may run in parallel and how long unused files are retained.

For normal operation, use the local cache options in Options and Settings. Edit the application-level cache folder or retention settings only when planning disk layout, replacing a workstation or troubleshooting cache behavior.

Playlist Templates

Power Studio can use a configured playlist template folder for exporting and printing playlists. These templates control playlist output, such as printed layouts or exported playlist documents.

Playlist templates are not Clock Formats and are not used to generate the schedule. Clock Formats define the structure of an hour; playlist templates define how an already created playlist is printed or exported.

Keep template folders on a stable path that is backed up and reachable by the computers that need to export or print playlists.

If templates are shared between multiple rooms, use the same path on all computers where possible.

Live Stream Defaults

Application settings can provide default durations, retry counts and reconnect behavior for live inputs and web streams.

Use these defaults to match the station's normal remote-broadcast behavior. A short news stream, a long outside broadcast and an always-on relay may need different operational expectations, so document any non-standard defaults.

SFTP And Download Workflows

SFTP-related settings can define connection timeouts, operation timeouts and RSA key locations. These settings are used by download workflows that retrieve external audio or data.

When a download depends on SFTP:

  • Store keys in a secure location.
  • Confirm the on-air computer can reach the server.
  • Test timeout behavior before unattended broadcasts.
  • Keep credentials and keys out of shared documentation.

Track Defaults

Application defaults can decide whether newly imported tracks are active in the browser or planner and can set default track or artist separation values.

These defaults shape daily library work. Review them before large imports so newly added audio does not unexpectedly become schedulable or remain hidden from the browser.

Performance And Audio Engine Settings

Advanced audio and performance settings include buffer size, update period, internal sample rate, process priority, audio driver mode and related low-level behavior.

Do not tune these during a live broadcast. Lower latency is not always safer; an overly aggressive buffer can create dropouts on a busy computer. After changing low-level audio settings, test playout, PFL, carts, recording and voice tracking.

Version Check

Power Studio can perform a version check when configured to do so. In managed station environments, decide whether version checks are handled by the application, by internal deployment procedures or by support.
