Installing Power Studio

Install Power Studio after the PostgreSQL database server has been prepared.

Run The Installer

  1. Download the Power Studio installer from the Power Studio website.
  2. Run the .msi file as an administrator.
  3. Accept the license agreement.
  4. Leave all required components selected.
  5. Install to the default location unless the station has a specific install standard.
  6. On the final page, select Launch the Configuration Tool.
  7. Finish the installer.

The installer can include the main application, PostgreSQL client tools, decoders, encoders, plugins and additional tools such as Bulletin Builder, Library Import and PowerGold Link.

If the station uses multiple Power Studio computers, install the first workstation completely and verify the database connection before installing the other clients.

Install The License File

The station receives a Power Studio license file separately.

  1. Extract the received license ZIP if needed.
  2. Copy PowerStudio.lic or the supplied license file to the Power Studio installation folder.
  3. The default folder is the Power Studio folder under C:\Program Files (x86).
  4. Confirm any Windows administrator prompt.

Power Studio shows license information during startup and in the About dialog. When the license is close to expiration, Power Studio displays a warning in the splash screen, status bar and About dialog.

Replace an expired or renewed license by copying the new license file to the same installation folder. Do this before the old license expires, because Power Studio stops working when the active license is no longer valid.

Component Selection

For most stations, perform a full installation. Only disable installer components when you know the station does not use that codec, plugin or tool.
