DHD Global Logics

Use the DHD Global Logics plugin when Power Studio needs to exchange logic states with a compatible DHD mixer or DHD control system.

Typical uses include:

  • Starting players from mixer logic.
  • Updating mixer indicators based on playout state.
  • Coordinating fader starts or studio signals.
  • Linking DHD console buttons to Power Studio actions.
  • Reflecting cart, player, Playout Player PFL or cue state on DHD logic outputs.
  • Building GPIO-style workflows without a separate GPIO interface.
  • Coordinating on-air related logic with Power Studio state.

Configure the connection details according to the station's DHD setup. Test every logic mapping in a maintenance window before using it on air.

Network And Firewall

The Power Studio computer must be connected to the DHD network that carries the Global Logics UDP broadcasts. If Power Studio is on another VLAN, another network interface, a routed office network or a network segment where broadcasts are not forwarded, it may not receive the DHD Logics UDP broadcasts reliably.

The Windows Firewall must also allow the Logics UDP traffic. Either disable Windows Firewall on the trusted DHD studio network, or configure explicit inbound and outbound firewall rules so the required Logics UDP broadcasts can be received and sent by Power Studio.

If the firewall blocks part of the UDP traffic, the integration may appear to work during some tests but behave unpredictably or unreliably on air. Symptoms can include missed button presses, delayed or missing indicator updates, state mismatches after reconnects, or logic states that only recover after restarting Power Studio or the DHD system.

After changing network interfaces, VLANs, IP addresses, Windows network profiles or firewall rules, retest all DHD Global Logics mappings.

Work with the DHD configuration engineer when deciding which global logics are safe to use. Give every mapping a clear operational purpose. For example, a fader-start mapping should be easy to explain to presenters, while an on-air logic mapping should be tested with the full studio chain.

After enabling or changing mappings, test:

  • Power Studio startup while the DHD system is already running.
  • DHD startup or reconnect while Power Studio is already running.
  • Receiving DHD Global Logics UDP broadcasts.
  • Sending DHD Global Logics UDP broadcasts.
  • The expected state after a player stops, a cart ends or Playout Player PFL is disabled.
  • The behavior when a presenter switches between Live Assist Mode and Automation Mode.
