Decision Questions

Before changing the system, answer these questions:

  1. Which computer is responsible for on-air playout?
  2. Where is the shared database?
  3. Where are the audio files stored?
  4. Which computers need to play, preview or record audio?
  5. Which workflows must keep working when the internet, VPN or a remote stream fails?
  6. Which integrations need external control, metadata output, traffic import or dynamic content?

If the answer affects live broadcast, plan the change outside live operation and test it on a non-critical workstation first.
