Configuration Tool

The Configuration Tool is installed with Power Studio and is normally used during installation and updates.

When To Use It

Use it to:

• Configure the local database connection.
• Initialize a new database.
• Update an existing database after installing a new Power Studio version.
• Apply prepared configuration transforms, for example for controlled multi-instance setups.

Safe Use

Run it as administrator. In a shared station setup, run the database update once for the shared database, then update all clients to the same Power Studio version.

When daily Power Studio clients use a restricted database user, use Use alternative database connection during Update to connect with an update/admin user that has the required schema or DDL permissions. Keep that update/admin connection separate from the normal saved workstation connection.

The database connection dialog also has an advanced connection string properties button. Leave those advanced properties unchanged unless Power Studio staff specifically instructs you to change them.
