Getting Started

Before starting, obtain the station's Power Traffic website address and your own user name and password from your station Administrator. Your user name is normally your email address. Work in the station organisation displayed in the top bar.

Sign In And Manage Your Password

  1. Open the supplied website address.
  2. Enter your user name and password and select Login.
  3. Use Remember Me only on a computer where keeping your sign-in is appropriate.
  4. Confirm that the correct station name appears and that the Dashboard opens.

If you have forgotten your password, select Click here beside Forgot your password?, enter your email address and select Reset password. Follow the instructions sent to that address. The request confirmation alone does not establish that an account exists or that the message has arrived. Check your spam folder and contact your station Administrator if necessary.

To change a known password, open the user menu at the top right, choose Manage profile, enter your current password, new password and confirmation, then select Change password. Check for the success message. Use Logout in the same menu when you finish on a shared computer.

Choose Your Role

RoleWork covered by this manual
UserAccounts, spots, promos, Static items, campaigns, schedule review, downloads, reports and notifications.
AdministratorAll normal station work, plus the System menu for station settings, users, voices, branches, references and templates.

An Account in the navigation is an advertiser or other commercial relationship. It is different from a login account under System > Users.

If a chapter requires Administrator access and you cannot see System, ask your station Administrator to perform that task. Do not change URLs to try to reach a missing menu.

How The Pieces Fit Together

  1. An account identifies the advertiser or other customer.
  2. A spot or promo describes audio, including the file reference and timing. An optional tag on adds a related second item to a campaign placement.
  3. A campaign specifies dates, a requested number of commercials, material and placement restrictions.
  4. Block definitions describe commercial positions and capacity. Hour templates, day templates and the week template determine when those positions are available.
  5. Saving an Active campaign requests background planning. Review the resulting schedule and any warnings.
  6. A playout connection or a manual download obtains the schedule for use in the studio.

Audio availability, successful planning and successful playout are separate checks. A campaign can be saved while some requested commercials cannot be placed, and a scheduled item can still refer to audio that the playout computer cannot access.
