Spots And Promos
Open Commercials > Spots for commercial audio or Commercials > Promos for promotional audio. Both types can be selected as a campaign's main Spot or optional Tag on.
If your station synchronizes its library from Power Studio, prepare and correct the synchronized metadata there. A later synchronization can overwrite title, artist, file, content type and timing changes made in Power Traffic. Coordinate manual edits with the person maintaining the source library.
Register Material Manually
- Open the appropriate list and select Add spot... or Add promo....
- Enter Title and the required File reference. Add Artist if useful.
- Set Duration and Start next item accurately.
- Select Voice, if known and used by the station.
- Enter External ID only when required by the agreed integration.
- Select Add. Reopen the item with the pencil icon and check its values.
The File field is a text reference used by playout/export; it is not an upload control. Use the file path or identifier expected by the station's playout system. Verify the corresponding audio on that system.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Title / Artist | Identify the material in lists, schedules and exports. |
| File | Identify the audio for the station's playout workflow. |
| Duration | The audio duration displayed in schedule information. |
| Start next item | The transition point, measured from the start of the item. The planner uses this value for commercial capacity. |
| Voice | Link material to a voice for separation within a commercial block. |
| External ID | Match a synchronized item to the external library. Preserve an existing integration identifier. |
Enter Timing Correctly
Use HH:mm:ss:ff, where the last part is hundredths of a second. A 30-second spot is 00:00:30:00; a 29.5-second transition is 00:00:29:50.
Duration and Start next item serve different purposes. If a file has a 31-second tail but the next item starts at 30 seconds, enter the measured values accordingly. Do not leave Start next item at zero for ordinary commercial material: the planner would then treat its timing contribution as zero.
The planner checks the combined Start next item values of the main spot and tag on against block capacity. See Scheduling Rules for count and voice constraints.
Edit Or Remove Material
Use the pencil icon, change the fields and select Save. Check campaigns that use the item and coordinate changes to material already obtained by playout. Saving a content record is not proof that existing studio playlists have been refreshed.
The delete cross is shown only when the item is eligible for deletion. Referenced material can be retained for historical use even after it disappears from normal lists. If deletion is unavailable, check active/draft campaigns and block use before trying again.
Full synchronization can remove externally identified items that are absent from the source library. For synchronized material, coordinate deletion in both applications and review affected campaigns. See Power Studio Integration.
