Power Studio Integration
Power Traffic plans the commercial booking; Power Studio supplies and plays material through the station's configured interface. Coordinate setup with the station Administrator and the studio operator.
Know Which Direction Data Moves
| Information | Direction and check |
|---|---|
| Spot, Promo and Static Item information | From Power Studio to Power Traffic through content synchronization. Check title, file reference, content type and timing in the Power Traffic lists. |
| Block identities | From Power Traffic to Power Studio so that commercial positions can be represented by macros. Check the intended block/reference mapping. |
| Planned block contents | From Power Traffic to Power Studio when the configured workflow processes the commercial macros and requests a schedule. Check the expanded playlist and actual audio. |
The interface exchanges material information and schedules. It does not make an inaccessible audio file available to the playout computer merely by sending its path.
Prepare The Connection
- Obtain the connection details supplied for your station through its normal support/setup process.
- In Power Studio, open Options and Settings > Power Traffic and enable/configure the interface according to the station's agreed setup.
- Agree when full content synchronization runs and when playlist macros are processed.
- Check that required tracks have content type Spot or Promo, and that fixed presentation items are available as Static Items.
- Complete a synchronization and verify the resulting material and block list.
- Add the appropriate Power Traffic macros to the Power Studio Clock Formats.
- Test a representative future hour, then inspect the expanded block, audio paths, transitions and overall timing.
Use the Power Studio integration chapter for the studio-side settings and Clock Format workflow. Keep connection keys private and out of screenshots, reports and campaign descriptions.
Separate Synchronization From Schedule Delivery
A new spot can be synchronized without being part of an Active campaign. An Active campaign can be planned before the studio next requests its blocks. A successful content synchronization therefore does not prove that an already loaded studio playlist has refreshed.
The studio can process macros at different points in its playlist workflow. Record the chosen timing so that traffic staff know the latest safe moment for changes and the studio knows when material becomes fixed for delivery.
The schedule request records download state. Requesting an hour marks that hour and its blocks as downloaded and also records a download on the day. Because the planner uses the day's status to select open days, an hour request can close that day to further automatic planning changes. Requesting a complete day marks all its hours and blocks. Reports use each block's download status, so after an hour request the same date can have material in both report categories. Avoid treating macro expansion as a harmless preview of distant future bookings.
Keep Material Consistent
For synchronized items, make authoritative title/file/type/timing corrections in the Power Studio library. Check Power Traffic after the next synchronization. Manual changes to these fields in Power Traffic can be replaced by the next source update.
An item's External ID links it to the source library. Do not invent or change it to fix a display name. Full synchronization can remove externally identified items that no longer exist in the source collection. Check campaign use before deleting or replacing source items.
Voice assignments and campaign classifications also need traffic-side review. Receiving file metadata alone does not establish that the station's voice/branch separation has been configured correctly.
Check An Unexpected Block
- Identify the date, hour and intended block/reference.
- Check the Active campaign and its restrictions in Power Traffic.
- Review notifications and the scheduled material for that date.
- Check when the studio last synchronized content and obtained the schedule.
- Verify the correct macro is used in the relevant Power Studio Clock Format.
- Check the actual file and content type at the studio.
- Coordinate any correction to material that is already in a loaded playlist.
